How do I report Chart Errors on a CoinGecko token page?

Last updated: October 6, 2026

If you notice inaccurate price, market cap, or volume data on a CoinGecko token page, you may submit a chart cleanup request for our team to review.

Before doing so, we recommend reading the sections below to understand how CoinGecko aggregates price data and what types of requests fall within the scope of a chart cleanup.

How CoinGecko Aggregates Price Data

CoinGecko aggregates price and volume data across all approved tickers listed on spot exchanges on CoinGecko, both centralized and decentralized. Data is collected every minute, converted to USD base, and processed through an outlier detection algorithm before a final Volume-Weighted Average Price (VWAP) is calculated across all valid tickers. This aggregated price is what is displayed on our coin pages.

For a full technical breakdown of our price aggregation process, please refer to our CoinGecko Methodology.

Initial Price or Launch Price Updates Requests

We regularly receive requests to adjust a token's initial or historical price to reflect its ICO price, pre-sale price, or a project-defined reference price. While we understand the intent behind these requests, CoinGecko is unable to accommodate them due to the following reasons:

  1. CoinGecko records market prices, not project-defined prices. The first price displayed on CoinGecko is the real traded price captured from integrated exchanges at the time collection begins. Incorporating a pre-sale or fundraising price as a historical data point would not reflect actual market activity, which is contrary to our role as a data aggregator.

  2. ICO and reference prices are different data types. Fundraising prices represent a token's valuation at issuance, not its live traded value. CoinGecko's aggregation methodology is designed to reflect real market conditions and does not incorporate project-set pricing of any kind.

  3. Reference to any single exchange's price. The aggregated price displayed on CoinGecko is a Volume-Weighted Average Price (VWAP) calculated across all valid tickers in the ticker set, after outliers have been removed. Requesting that we reference a specific exchange's price, whether higher or lower than the aggregated figure, is not something we are able to accommodate, as it would misrepresent the broader market consensus.

This approach is consistent with the standard practice of financial data providers globally. Market price records reflect what exchanges reported and are not modified based on issuer-defined valuations.

Opening Price

To request a review of your token's opening price, please provide the transaction hash (tx) of the first trade and the relevant pool.

Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee an update. Any adjustment is dependent on our methodology.

Listing/ Reference Price

To request addition of your token's listing price, please provide the listing price and listing price/ reference price source.

Example: https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/solstice

All requests will be reviewed against our methodology, and an update is not guaranteed.

What Can Be Reported as a Chart Error

Chart cleanup requests are reviewed for genuine data integrity issues, including:

  • A specific ticker or exchange is feeding incorrect, manipulated, or anomalous price data

  • Erroneous ATH or ATL values caused by an anomalous data spike

  • Price discrepancies tied to a specific datetime range with an identifiable root cause

Requests involving data irregularities from illiquid pools, price or volume anomalies, or suspected market manipulation may be subject to further validation or rejected if they are found to compromise the integrity of our data.
