NFT market cap is the total value of all NFTs in a collection in circulation, calculated by multiplying the total supply of NFTs in a collection by the current floor price. It serves as a valuation indicator to compare NFT assets with each other and with other cryptocurrencies. The rank that we assign to a collection reflects its position across all NFT collections in all the chains that we are tracking, hence you can consider it as a global market cap ranking.
Why are some collections not ranked?
Internally, we set a volume threshold for collections to be given a rank at any point in time. However, even if the threshold is met, a collection will still not be assigned a market cap rank if there is suspicion of wash trading that inflates its volume or suspicion of an illiquid and artificially inflated floor price. This is exercised at our discretion.
Note that in our Market Cap page (https://www.coingecko.com/en/nft), the table lists the collections which are ranked on our site and for the collections that are not assigned a rank, they will be sorted secondarily by trading volume.
