1. What is the difference between total supply and circulating supply?
Total Supply: The total number of tokens that exist, including those that are locked, reserved, or otherwise not available for trading, minus any burned tokens.
Circulating Supply: The number of tokens that are currently available for public trading that are not locked or vested or held by team or treasury.
2. Why is there no Circulating Supply on my token?
Please follow our guide to submit a request for Circulating Supply to be reviewed and updated.
3. How does CoinGecko track the Total Supply and Circulating Supply of tokens that are bridged to multiple chains?
CoinGecko tracks the total and circulating supply across all chains. When tokens are bridged, the supply data is aggregated to ensure the total supply remains consistent, and the circulating supply reflects tokens available on all chains.
To submit a request involving Uncirculated Wallets across multiple chains, please provide a list of the Uncirculated Wallets on each chain. We will calculate the deductions based on the total supply (Circulating Supply = Total Supply from all chains - Uncirculated Wallet from all chains). However, if you can provide an API that accurately reflects the calculation of Total Supply - Uncirculated Wallets, we may consider using the API instead. You can find the API requirements here.
4. Does CoinGecko track the Total Supply and Circulating Supply of bridged/wrapped tokens?
Yes, we do track the Total Supply and Circulating Supply for bridged/ wrapped tokens. However, they are excluded them from the Global Market Cap on CoinGecko to prevent double counting.
