This article aims to clarify the reasons behind your request's rejection and provide insights into how to enhance the chances of approval in future requests.

| Based on our tagging methodology, we do not assign sector-specific tags to general-purpose blockchains unless the project is a sector-specific blockchain. You may refer to our methodology <a href="https://support.coingecko.com/hc/en-us/articles/33032306282137">here</a> for more information. |
Sector tags such as AI, DeFi, or RWA are meant for projects that specifically operate within those sectors. General-purpose blockchains are designed to support a wide variety of applications and are therefore not considered part of a single sector. Assigning sector tags to such blockchains would dilute the usefulness of categories for users - for example, if Ethereum appeared in nearly every category, those categories would no longer help users discover projects that are truly focused on that sector. For purpose-built or sector-focused blockchains, tags are only applied to their main intended sector. For instance, Ronin is a gaming-focused blockchain, so it would be tagged under Gaming - but not under DeFi, AI, or other unrelated sectors. |
| For new category request, please submit the request to https://support.coingecko.com/hc/en-us/requests/new |
This form is intended for submission of projects to existing categories. Requests for brand-new categories go through a separate review process involving research, validation, and internal discussion to ensure the category is relevant, distinct, and sustainable over time.
What You Can Do: Submit new category ideas through our support form. Please include details such as why do you this category is important or helpful to the community, and example of projects. |
| Your requested tag has been rejected. However, we have tagged your project to a more relevant category. |
Sometimes, a project fits better under a different but related category. Our evaluation team reviews each project’s main purpose, token utility, and underlying technology to assign the most suitable tag. This ensures that the tagging remains accurate and meaningful for users browsing by category. |
| Your request has been rejected as the wrong token page is selected. Please select the correct token page to allow our evaluation team to review your request. Your cooperation is highly appreciated. |
If the tag request was submitted for the wrong token (for example, submitting a Solana meme token to Solana), we are unable to proceed with the evaluation.
What You Can Do: Please double-check the token name and symbol before submitting your request to ensure accuracy.
|
| The absence of a tangible product prototype makes it challenging for us to evaluate the project to be under this category. |
We only assign tags to projects with a verifiable product, prototype, or active ecosystem. This helps ensure that each tagged project has a legitimate presence within its claimed sector. If a project only has a landing page or an unreleased concept, it cannot be meaningfully evaluated for tagging.
What You Can Do: Once the project’s product or platform is launched (e.g. testnet, beta, or mainnet), you can resubmit your tag request. |
| The requested tag does not accurately represent the content or purpose of the project. |
We ensure that every tag reflects the core function of the project. Requests are rejected if the proposed tag does not align with the project’s actual operations, token use case, or positioning. For instance, tagging a gaming token as DeFi would misrepresent its purpose and confuse users exploring by category.
Re-submit your request with a tag that best describes your project’s main focus. |
